Dogleg Live

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This policy explains what information Dogleg Live (the “Service”) collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Dogleg Live web app and progressive web app.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and password. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.

Google sign-in. If you sign in with Google, we request only the basic profile scopes (“email” and “profile”). We receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier, and we use them solely to create and identify your Dogleg Live account. We do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, Contacts, Calendar, or any other Google data, and we never use Google account data for advertising.

Golf profile data. Your handicap index and, if you choose to provide it, your GHIN number.

Tournament and scoring data. Tournaments you create or join, teams, tee pairings, rounds played, hole-by-hole scores, and an audit record of score entries and edits (including who entered a score and when) used to keep scoring fair.

Chat messages. Messages you post in a tournament chat, along with your display name and the time posted.

Technical and usage data. Basic log and analytics data such as pages visited, approximate region, device and browser type, and timestamps. We use privacy-friendly aggregate analytics and do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to create and secure your account, run tournaments and leaderboards, calculate course handicaps and scores, deliver chat and live score updates, send service-related emails (such as sign-up confirmation and password reset), detect abuse and scoring irregularities, and diagnose and improve the Service. We do not use your information for automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects.

3. Information Visible to Other Users

Dogleg Live is a shared, social product. When you join a tournament, your name, handicap, scores, team and pairing assignments, and chat messages are visible to the other players and spectators in that tournament. Your email address is not shown to other users. Only share information in chat that you are comfortable with the group seeing.

4. Sharing and Service Providers

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We share data only with the service providers needed to operate the Service:

  • Supabase — authentication, database hosting, and realtime updates.
  • Vercel — application hosting and aggregate analytics.
  • Google — optional sign-in with Google.
  • Golf Course API — course, tee, and hole data. We send course search terms; we do not send your personal information.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users. If the Service is transferred to another owner, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Google User Data

Dogleg Live’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google profile data is used only to authenticate you and populate your account name and email. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not shared with third parties except the service providers listed above. You can revoke Dogleg Live’s access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies strictly to keep you signed in and to refresh your session. We use browser local storage to remember interface preferences such as collapsed sections and sound settings. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

7. Data Retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Tournament, round, and score history is retained so that leaderboards and past results remain available to the groups you played with. When a tournament is deleted, its rounds, scores, teams, pairings, and chat messages are permanently deleted. When your account is deleted, your profile is removed; chat messages you posted may remain in a tournament feed with your authorship detached.

8. Security

Data is transmitted over TLS and stored with our hosting providers using industry-standard safeguards. Access to tournament data is restricted server-side to members of that tournament. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information you transmit to us.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You can view and update your name, email, and handicap at any time from your profile. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International Users

The Service is operated from and hosted in the United States. If you access it from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated through the Service. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
